Review of Competitiveness Frameworks Published: Call for Submissions Issued

Date: 13 April 2016

For over a decade, the Council has used a bespoke competitiveness framework (“the competitiveness pyramid”) to describe the multifaceted and interlinked dimensions of competitiveness, with a particular focus on how competitiveness issues impact upon Ireland as a small, open economy.

To ensure that the NCC remains an effective and authoritative voice advocating for competitiveness enhancement, the Council commissioned research to examine our competitiveness definition and framework. This work was carried out for the Council by Dr Christian Ketels, Principal Associate at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. His discussion document presents his findings. This report (available here) is being considered by the Council with a view to updating our framework to ensure that the Council utilises the best possible evidence on which to base our recommendations in the future.

The Council is currently seeking submissions on the development of our Competitiveness Framework. Details of this consultation process are available below.
